Fall Leaves

Hello and Happy Monday!
We're starting the second week of our fabulous Halloween color challenge at Inky Paws!  I hope you have taken the time to join in for your chance to win some goodies from Newton's Nook!!
I decided to try something a little different for my card.  Instead of doing a wet on wet watercolor background, I applied my ink right to an acrylic block.  I really wanted a full background but didn't want to fuss around with it to much by painting it.  Applying the ink to the block allowed my to just press it into the paper and set it aside while the colors mixed and dried.  And it turned out so cool!  I love that the edges have a bit of dry texture to them still!

For some extra detail, I splattered a bit of water, shimmer mist, and white shimmer mist onto the background and set that aside to work on the leaves.

These leaves are just gorgeous!  They are from the new Shades of Autumn set and I love all the detail in them!  I put the stamps into my Tim Holtz Stamping Tool and then used several orange and red shades of ink to stamp them out and get all that fun color variation.  The stamping tool made quick work of all that!  Love that thing!

I trimmed all the leaves out and also added a little pumpkin from the Newton's Perfect Pumpkin set before head embossing my sentiment onto some vellum and adhering everything down to my dry background.  Finished it all off with a sprinkling of some black enamel dots.

I love this card so much!  I think the background really steals the show, but the leaves are that perfect touch.  Be sure to swing by the Inky Paws challenge to see the rest of my teams inspiration and the join in!  Just remember to use Newton's Nook products on your card!!

Thanks for visiting! <3

  1. This turned out so beautiful! I never would have guessed you just added ink to your stamp block and then applied it to the paper! I totally have to try that now! The leaves are gorgeous too! Thanks for the fun inspiration for this challenge!
